How to use custom IDM with Flowable modeler

Hi
I Managed to deploy a custom flowable modeler for use with the out of the box idm. I however want the modeler to use another source for IDM and set about looking through the code and came upon the RemoteIdmService class. I overrode this (and I’m still assuming this is all you need to override for the flowable modeler) but when I deploy it to my tomcat i get the following exception stack trace:

Can anyone point me in the right direction?
I’ve narrowed down the culprit to the flowable-ui-common dependency but I can’t get away with not including this in the project as this is where the RemoteIdmService is located.
Adding <absolute-ordering/> to my tomcat’s web.xml doesn’t solve the problem either.
